If You Are In The Middle Of A Sleep Regression
Is your baby caught in a sleep regression?
Hitting a milestone could be the cause. Who isn’t excited when they achieve their goals? Hitting a milestone for littles can be enough to sometimes drastically disrupt their sleep! Because they just want to spend all their time practicing this cool new thing they just learned.
Here’s 3 things that you can do if you’re in the middle of a sleep regression and desperate for some sleep:
Stick to your routine. It can be so easy when your little one is struggling with sleep to just let them come to bed with you, or sleep with them so that you can get some rest too. I totally get it and have done it too. But I promise you if you stick to your routine you’ll get out of this a lot sooner.
Don’t rush in. I’m not saying let them scream. That isn’t my vibe at all. But what I am saying is to pause for a second and listen. See if they can work it out on their own for just a second. Sometimes they surprise you!
Be boring. If you do have to go in, keep the room dark and be silent. This signals to your little one that it isn’t playtime and with less stimulation they will fall back to sleep sooner.
Sleep regressions can last two to sometimes six weeks. If your little one (and you) are still struggling or if at any point you feel like something is wrong, check in with your doctor for some reassurance that it isn’t something health related and if you need additional support check out my free resources, my Sleep Easy ebook is a gentle guide to help you and your little sleep well two weeks or less!
