At Nocturne, we believe that personal reflection deserves thoughtful care. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Nocturne mobile application, created by Greightful.
1. Information You Choose to Share
When you use Nocturne, you may enter dreams, personal experiences, symbols, questions, and other reflections.
The information you provide may be personal or sensitive. We encourage you to share only what you feel comfortable including.
Nocturne does not require you to provide your real name to write a reflection.
2. How AI Reflections Work
Nocturne uses artificial intelligence to generate symbolic interpretations and conversational responses.
When you request an AI interpretation or continue an AI conversation, the text you submit, along with relevant conversation context, is transmitted to Nocturne's backend service and processed using OpenAI's API.
This processing is necessary to generate the response you requested.
Your reflections are not used by Greightful to provide medical diagnoses, psychological assessments, or predictions.
3. Your Personal Archive
Nocturne includes a personal Archive where you can save and revisit reflections.
Archive entries are stored locally on your device. They are not automatically uploaded to Nocturne's backend simply because you save them.
However, text you submit for AI interpretation is transmitted for processing as described above, even if you later save that reflection to your Archive.
You can manage and delete locally saved reflections within the app.
4. How Information Is Used
Information submitted through Nocturne may be processed to:
Generate AI-powered symbolic interpretations.
Respond to follow-up questions within a conversation.
Operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
Prevent misuse and manage service usage.
We do not sell your personal reflections to advertisers.
5. Third-Party Services
Nocturne uses third-party technology providers to operate its AI features, including:
OpenAI: Processes submitted reflection text and relevant conversational context to generate responses.
Render: Hosts Nocturne's backend service, through which AI requests are transmitted.
These providers may process technical and submitted information according to their applicable service terms and privacy practices.
6. Data Storage and Retention
Your personal Archive is stored locally on your device and remains there until you delete entries or remove the app, subject to your device's storage and backup behaviour.
AI requests are transmitted through Nocturne's backend and to OpenAI. Service providers may retain certain information for operational, security, or legal purposes.
The specific retention periods and technical logging practices for Nocturne's production service will be confirmed before public release.
7. Your Choices
You can choose what information to enter into Nocturne and whether to save a reflection in your Archive.
You can delete locally saved Archive entries using the app's available controls.
